The player interaction module is purely immersive in value. If you enjoy the "thought" that it has an effect and you imagine it being worthwhile, then go for it. Otherwise, you can ignore it completely.
For example, Rashidi only praises a player if he wins best player of the season. He never praises them for training, but he sometimes criticise players for not training well if they are also getting regular game time.
He actually played an entire season without asking the players to train, never engaged with them even when some players were unhappy. In the end, the team still went on to win everything but the training development was shocking.
The players knew they weren’t training well and they were actually getting worse in terms of attributes, but was there an adverse reaction? No.
One can avoid interacting completely with players treating them instead as employees contractually obligated to perform to expectations failing which they are released from the contract.
If you like that approach, the game allows you to take it. The game has never punished you for making poor choices when interacting with players, apart from them failing to agree to contract extensions. So you decide when to engage with them.
When players have 2 years left on their contract, if they are key to your tactics then make sure they play because that seems to be the only thing that matters to keeping players happy enough to play and deliver. All else is unimportant.
